The design goal for the Vayu V2c is a stable, high performance wing with a wide wind range, neutral balance and uncompromised ease of use.

The V2 is the next level in the Vayu evolution and includes:

  • Windows for improved visibility.
  • Marked handles for easier hand positioning.
  • RIGID STRUT FRAME DESIGN with high canopy tension for exceptional wind range, upwind performance, speed and air-time.
  • Single point inflation system with large diameter inlet/outlet hose for rapid inflation and deflation. Bayonet style inflation valve compatible with most pumps. No adapter needed.
  • Two middle strut Inflation hoses on each side of the middle strut provide a high rate of airflow for quicker setup and deflation. The two connections also hold the bladder in place preventing failure when inflating.

The most special feature of the VVING V2 is the Bridge-Boom strut system. A foldable boom, which requires no additional tools and is automatically brought into position when inflated. The Bridge-Boom provides a wide range of hand positions enabling intuitive transitions and precise direct control while trimming the wing.
Over or underpowered, the VVING handles any gust and generates considerable forward speed. Being balanced and reactive with sweep and dihedral, the VVING is very tow friendly when riding waves. Whether your focus is riding open ocean waves, carving or freestyle tricks, the VVING does it all.

The Vayu V2c is a moderate aspect, truncated elliptical planform determined by the square area with a limited wingspan to avoid potential tip-to-water contact. Low entry, highly efficient moderate draft-aft custom profiles are blended to create a low drag, high speed forward drive. Sweep, dihedral and lift distribution are precisely combined for neutral handling and balance.

The inflatable tubes for each size are sculpted to match the span-wise lift distribution without excess weight and drag and the canopy is pre-loaded to stabilize the profiles and preserve shape. The wingtips have a specific designed flexibility and built- in washout to reduce the pitching moment for smooth, controllable response over a wide velocity and sheeting range.

The Vayu Bridge-Boom Strut is designed to provide ultimate structural stability with precise, direct handling over a variety of hand positions. The bridge structure is engineered to secure the profile shape and effectively supports the inflatable strut from distortion.

Pumping to accelerate and control inputs are quick and efficient avoiding the indirect feel of conventional handles which can move laterally and up and down.

The Bridge-Boom Strut provides the advantages of a full-length boom while enabling simplicity of set up and compact storage

The Vayu Bridge-Boom Strut is designed to provide ultimate structural stability with precise, direct handling over a variety of hand positions.

Have all the advantages of a boom without all of the problems of loosing it or being able carry it easily in a small space.

Latest Review of V1 from a great Customer

Day 1 of level 3 in Auckland. First chance to try the Vayu wing in NZ. Review below:

Review of the 4.4M Vving from Vayu

by Andrew and Natalie Wilson

Unique Bridge-Boom for precise control is more refined, ie no bolts!

Windows for improved visibility.

No hassle setup with one pump system and folding boom, two middle strut Inflation hoses on each side of the middle strut provide a high rate of airflow for quicker setup and deflation

Wide wind range due to rigid frame, flat profile and high canopy Tension.

Testing conditions  June 2022

Light onshore wind about 7-11 knots which got lighter throughout the review period. When I could no longer get my Axis ART 1099 on foil (with my Froth 2022 90L 5’1” board, rider weight 75KG), I replaced this wing with my 8M CWC F-One to finish of the session. I had been able to get on foil with the 5.4m Vayu Vving V2 when others around me on similar or larger wings on other brands could not.

Impressions

All the advantages of a boom wing with almost none of the disadvantages. You can control the wing with one hand near the back of the first handle – ideal for starting in light winds. Wing unfolds and folds easily due to the bridge boom and double main strut inflation/deflation hoses.

Good low end power for the wing size – likely to carry through to excellent high wind control due to, as Vayu says: the very RIGID STRUT FRAME DESIGN with high canopy tension for exceptional windrange, upwind performance, speed and air-time. I agree.

I managed to surf a few very small (1 foot) waves and had the wing flagging out nicely from one hand in a well behaved manner.

Wind Range

The Vayu web site says you can use the 5.4m2  in 9-25 knots. I proved the low end and I believe them regarding the top end. (75kg rider with in my case the ART 1099, 1100cm2 – Vayu web site data based on 1500cm2 front foil).

Land boarding Test

I had hoped to try out the 4.4m in a wing foiling race at the Manly sailing club but with 30+knots the race was cancelled due to safety issues. So instead I tried it land boarding in that wind (30+knots) since the sea state didn’t allow me to break out through the 2+m high surf along Orewa beach.

I was over powered on the 4.4 except in the lulls but the fine control allowed by the taught canopy and rigid struts and mini booms gave me finger tip control over the pull as I whizzed along the beach. It was tiring keeping things under control and the incoming tide was making my options tricky with the few beach walkers braving the conditions but it was a lot of fun. So do these wings work OK when over powered?

Yes without question!

Conclusions

A highly refined wing, perfect for a wide range of winging from free style, to waves, to racing. If you have not tried a boom style wing yet you should, and I doubt you could try a better (boom) wing than the Vayu Vving V2.

Mike has now brought on board an excellent range of hand wings – if you prefer handles to a boom style he has the F-One, Flysurfer, and others.

Picked up this wing a few weeks ago and it's awesome. Amazing range, I am regularly on my 4.4 while others are on 5.0+, but it remains controlled as the winds get stronger. Love the boom, makes for one very rigid wing and gives direct handling. Highly recommended.
