The Manly Laser Regatta

 

March 14th and 15th, 2009

 

The Organising Authority is Manly Sailing Club,

 

Manly, Whangaparaoa

 

NOTICE OF RACE

 

 1

RULES

 1.1

 

The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.

 

 1.2

The Yachting New Zealand Safety Regulations Part 1, shall apply.

 

 1.3

 

Under rule 87, Rule 7 (a) of the class rules is deleted and replaced by:

The Laser shall be raced by one person aboard. The crew shall not change during the event.

 1.4

For protests where only a Rule of Part 2 is alleged to have been broken an arbitration hearing will be offered prior to any formal hearing.

ADVERTISING

 2.1

Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority.

ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

 3.1

The regatta is open to all boats of the Laser full rig, Laser Radial and Laser 4.7 classes.

 3.2

 

 

Eligible boats may enter online by clicking on this link or on the day with the required fee at the club no later than 10.00hrs on March 14th.

FEES

 4.1

Required fees are as follows:

SCHEDULE

 5.1

Registration:

Online entries : Not required

On the Day entries : Saturday 14th March 0830hrs to 1000hrs  

 5.2

Number of races:

 4 Races per day

 5.3

The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race is 1100hrs on Saturday 14th March.

The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race on Sunday 15th March is 1000hrs

On Sunday 15th March no warning signal will be made after 1600 hours.

MEASUREMENTS

Each boat shall produce a valid measure­ment certificate if asked.

SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

The sailing instructions will be available at registration on Saturday 14th March at MSC.

VENUE

 

Attachment A shows the location of the regatta venue and the location of the racing area.

THE COURSES

The courses to be sailed will be trapezoid.

SCORING

 10.1

2 races are required to be completed to constitute a series.

 10.2

(a)     When fewer than 5 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.

 

(b)     When from 5 to 8 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.

 11

RADIO COMMUNICATION

Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio trans­missions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile tele­phones.

PRIZES

Prizes will be given as follows: 1st in each class that has 5 or more entries.  1st overall for Standard, Radial, 4.7.  Generous Spot Prizes.

DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4,
Deci­sion to Race. The organizing author­ity will not accept any liability for material dam­age or personal injury or death sus­tained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
