We have a new home page. Please check it out on the link below. Let me know of your ideas to improve it and any errors you can find.
2. Winter Race Programme
Twilight Series. www.nzsailing.net has sponsored prizes worth over $700 for these series and they are structured so that everyone has a chance to win, whether you sail an Optimist, Zephyr, 4.7 or Laser. So far we have had 40 sailors taking part and have had winners from each of the 5 classes that have entered so far (Laser 4.7, Standard & Radial Laser, Optimist & Zephyr). With 1 discard every six races its not too late to enter! Follow the links below for details of the Racing and to check out when you are OOD

They key to giving everyone a chance depends on the OOD. It is important that the OOD sets correct courses for each class and follows the instructions on the Race Schedule. If you have any questions please talk to Mike Pasco or Mike Jones on the day that you are Rostered to be OOD. As the number of boats increases we will need to have another Safety Boat on the water. For the future series we will allocate an OOD and Safety Boat person for each race day. Can those parents and members who do not sail but would like to help out with the safety boat duty please email mike@nzsailing.net
has been pleased with the successful introduction of the Laser 4.7 & the Manly Sailing Club Lasers and the increased membership and sailing activity that has been generated. The club now has at total of eight 4.7 Rigs & two Lasers available for members use. The demand for the 4.7 Rigs & Lasers continues to rise and the committee has decided to buy another two Lasers. The Committee has recently confirmed the rules for use of this club equipment.

4. Laser training & coaching in Spring & Summer 07
A large number of members have indicated that they would like to have some coaching on how to sail their Lasers faster and win races. The club is currently putting together a training & coaching programme for the coming Season which will be available for all members. We have had discussions with New Zealand's top Laser sailors & Coaches and we would like to put a programme together that would consist of about 8 Saturday afternoons between October & December. Some of the Coaches who have expressed interest in the programme are: Jo Aleh (#9 in the World in womans Radial), Sara Winther (#25 in the World in womans Radial), Ian Neely (Current Australian Olympic Laser Coach, Former NZ Laser olympic Coach) Blair Mclay (2005 Laser Radial World Youth Champion) & our own Murray Thom & Mark Page. The costs of running this programme will be covered by an extra fee charged to those members who enroll. At this stage for the 8 sessions it will be around $50 to $100 depending on how many members enroll. To complete the planing for this programme we need all members who are interested to register their interest. Once we get a better idea on numbers we will come back to those members and confirm final registrations. Please email me before end of July if you are interested in the programme. mike@nzsailing.net
5. Upcoming Events 07
There are four events coming up at the Club for the rest of the year. They are as shown below and follow the links for more details. Its only four events so please volunteer to help with at least one.
Manly Sailing Club will be holding the first Regatta in the World to Celebrate the ISAF 100 year birthday. The Laser 4.7 Camp will attract sailors from all around New Zealand and we are looking for billets for these sailors and their parents plus boats for them to hire for the 3 days. Please email mike@nzsailing.net if you are able to help with this.
The Laser Icebreaker Regatta will require the usual helpers onshore and afloat. Don Salthouse has kindly offered the use of his Superyacht as the start boat so those people thinking of helping out on the water will be nice and warm and have a great day! Contact Don by email to volunteer to help with this regatta donsalt@xtra.co.nz

6. Free Club Instructor & Coaching Courses & Tickets to the Boat Show 07
Mike Knowsley & Phil Clarke recently attended and passed the free Club Instructor Course. Well done guys and it will be great to have you teaching Learn to Sail soon. For members wanting to improve their coaching YNZ is holding free Coaching Classes to be taken by Ian Neely (Australian Olympic Laser Coach). I have recently been fortunate to have Ian give me some coaching and I would recommend this course to all Sailors. I will be attending and it would be great to see some other Instructors from Manly taking the next step so that we can develop the Club's young sailing talent further. Follow this Link for more information and while you are there sign up for YNZ email newsletter. It is well worth it and I won't have to put so much in our newsletter if everyone gets it! http://www.yachtingnz.org.nz/index.cfm?pageid=282&parentid=644
